Dr. Ruben Alvero – recipient of 5280 Magazine’s “Top Docs” award for three consecutive years – completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard University and received his medical degree from the F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Walter Reed Medical Center and his fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. Subsequently, Dr. Alvero was Division Director of the Infertility Services at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and National Naval Medical Center. Dr. Alvero joined the faculty at the University of Colorado in 2002. Dr. Alvero’s clinical interests include infertility, polycystic ovary disease (PCOS), endometriosis, and reproductive surgery. Dr. Alvero is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Alvero is trained in the use of the Da Vinci Robot and provides patients with a delicate and precise method of removing pelvic pathology and restoring normal anatomy. As a reproductive surgeon, Dr. Alvero offers the complete range of services necessary to treat reproductive anomalies and complex pelvic adhesive diseases associated with endometriosis or prior infection. He also uses the Da Vinci Robot to reverse previous tubal ligation.

He is a diplomat of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons. He is chairman of the Residency Education Committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and actively publishes in many areas of reproductive endocrinology. He recently co-edited a textbook entitled Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility: The Requisites along with Dr. William Schlaff. In his free time, Dr Alvero enjoys rowing, biking and classical guitar.
