Omega-3 Fatty Acids Shown to Boost Fertility in Obese Women

Dr. Alex Polotsky of The University of Colorado Advanced Reproductive Medicine was part of a recent research study focusing on how omega-3 fatty acid supplements can boost fertility in women with obesity. The findings suggest that omega-3 fatty acids dietary supplementation should continue to be tested in clinical trials for promoting fertility in obese women.

“Omega-3 supplementation resulted in a trend for increased progesterone in obese women, thus enhancing ovulatory function,” Dr. Polotsky told “A 16 to 22 percent increase was observed. Additionally, the supplementation resulted in reduced systemic inflammation.”
