Omega-3 Fatty Acids Shown to Boost Fertility in Obese Women
Dr. Polotsky’s study highlighted in MedicalResearch.com provides hope for infertile obese women
Dr. Alex Polotsky of The University of Colorado Advanced Reproductive Medicine was part of a recent research study focusing on how omega-3 fatty acid supplements can boost fertility in women with obesity. The findings suggest that omega-3 fatty acids dietary supplementation should continue to be tested in clinical trials for promoting fertility in obese women.
“Omega-3 supplementation resulted in a trend for increased progesterone in obese women, thus enhancing ovulatory function,” Dr. Polotsky told MedicalResearch.com. “A 16 to 22 percent increase was observed. Additionally, the supplementation resulted in reduced systemic inflammation.”
