Denver (February 16, 2018) – The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to the University of Colorado Advanced Reproductive Medicine (CU ARM) IVF Lab based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP’s accreditation programs.
The facility’s Lab Team Leader Liesl Nel-Themaat, Ph.D., TS, was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. CU ARM IVF Lab is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
“CAP accreditation reflects the most stringent guidelines that regulate IVF and andrology labs in our country. Our dedicated and outstanding lab staff works diligently to maintain the high standards required for CAP accreditation. Our superb pregnancy rates, no doubt, reflect the commitment of our lab to ensure the highest standards possible for IVF labs. CAP is a robust scientific society representing over 18,000 members and numerous labs worldwide.” said Dr. Edward Illions, medical director of CU ARM Denver office.
Dr. Shona Murray, medical director for the CU ARM Colorado Springs office said, “We are delighted to be able to offer our services through a CAP-accredited lab. The high standards required for CAP accreditation are reflected in our outstanding pregnancy results.”
The United States federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government’s own inspection program.
During the CAP accreditation process, designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
